I'm Yvette Keyes.
And before I became an author, I spent years simply living the material.
Love.
Marriage.
Motherhood.
Mistakes.
Starting over.
Changing my mind.
Holding on.
Letting go.
Learning when to fight for something and learning when fighting for it was costing too much.
Eventually, I started putting some of those thoughts into words.
That's how The Woman Who Chases began.
But writing that book showed me something else:
I have more to say.
The House of Keyes is where I'm giving myself room to say it.
My writing explores relationships, intimacy, desire, womanhood, identity, self-worth and the strange education that comes from simply living long enough to look back and say:
I don't believe what I used to believe anymore.
I'm not writing from a pedestal.
I'm writing from inside the experience.
Sometimes I've figured something out.
Sometimes I'm still figuring it out.
Either way, there's probably a story in it.
